Dr Pikay Richardson is a Visiting Professor at Nova Business School Africa and seasoned international world-class management development educator, consultant and business school professor. He holds degrees in Engineering, from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Business Economics, from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, and PhD from the Victoria University of Manchester. He was a visiting senior professor at CEIBS, visiting fellow at the Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, and an Institute Fellow, at the Centre for British Studies, Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany. Previously, he has held full-time faculty positions at the Manchester Business School, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ, USA, where he was research professor and academic director for executive programmes. Â
Apart from degree courses, Dr Richardson also has over 25 years of experience in the design and delivery of short executive development courses for in-service managers and executives in the UK and many other countries. His areas of expertise include Business Economics, Corporate Strategy, Leadership Development, Change Management, Corporate Governance and Ethics, and Strategic Planning and Management. Dr Richardson is a truly international management development expert. Apart from the UK, where is based, he has worked in many countries, including, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, India, Bangladesh, Dubai, France, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, the US, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Barbados, St Lucia and Jamaica.
Dr Richardson has also consulted for, and advised, a number of companies in the UK and abroad, in the areas of Corporate Strategy, Strategic Leadership, Change Management and Corporate Governance and Ethics. For eight years, he served as a member of the Board of Management, and chairman of the Equal Opportunities Committee, of the Northern Counties Housing Association, a ÂŁ60 million turnover UK company.
As Director of the Manchester Business School’s India Research and Development Unit for many years, Dr Richardson undertook many consulting assignments in the India sub-continent for the University of Manchester, the UK, Indian and Bangladeshi Governments. For ten years, he was an economic and management development consultant for the UK Governments’ Department for International Development (ODA). As Director of the Indian Railways Senior Management Programme, he was instrumental in the training of senior managers of Indian Railways, a programme that contributed in no small way in making Indian the Railways becoming eventually financially self-sufficient.
In Ghana, he has held visiting positions in GIMPA and CEIBS, where for many years he taught Executive MBA courses in Strategic Management, Organisational Behaviour and Leadership Development. He served as lead management development consultant for Merchant Bank Ghana Ltd for many years. He regularly conducts courses on “Executive Leadership and Corporate Governance” for the Boards of Directors of companies, including BOST, COCOBOD, NPA, Ghana Post, ECG, DATABANK, New Times Corporation (publishers of the Ghanaian Times) and Silver Star Towers Ltd, and courses on “Executive Leadership Development/Masterclass” for directors and senior managers of state-owned and private sector enterprises in Ghana, including, Bank of Ghana, VRA, GRIDCo and New Times Corporation.
Dr Richardson has played and continue to play a role in the Boardroom. For eight years, he served as a member of the Board of Management and Equal Opportunities Committee of the Northern Counties Housing Association. Currently, he is the chairman of the Board of Directors of Luton Engineering Services, UK, and sits on the Board of Capemay Properties.
