Bio

Em Ekong is a dynamic leader in business and economic development, with over two decades of experience working across the UK and Africa. She is a Co-Director of the Centre for Women, Entrepreneurship and Youth at Nova Business School Africa. She currently serves as the Director of Operations and Communications at the Centre of Excellence in Urban Management and is the Founding Director of the Urban Inclusion Community. Em’s work is rooted in transforming urban and economic landscapes by supporting entrepreneurial ecosystems and advancing inclusive growth for marginalized populations.

Her consultancy and advisory experience span intergovernmental agencies and government institutions, where she has designed and delivered wide-ranging initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, innovation, strategic communication, and diaspora engagement. Through her work, she has mobilized investments and remittances to uplift some of the most underserved communities, driving social and economic development at scale.

Em’s current engagements include her role with the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs, where she focuses on ecosystem building across Africa. She has partnered with a range of global and regional organizations, including the African Development Bank, African Guarantee Fund, UCLG Africa (United Cities and Local Governments of Africa), UN Women, and Oxfam. A passionate advocate for youth and women-led businesses, Em believes that inclusive entrepreneurship is key to sustainable economic transformation.

Her educational background includes an MSc in Economic Development from the University of Manchester, UK and a BA (Hons) in Economics and Finance from the University of Strathclyde, UK. She is also a certified Professional Trainer and Coach with the Association of Accredited Business Consultants
