Dr Mosala is a seasoned Executive, renowned Academic and Author with an impressive career spanning across multiple industries. A serial techpreneur and international strategic technology consultant, he spent several years as an ICT Executive at Transnet, Datavia and SA Express Airways, where he successfully grew business units he headed both locally and throughout the African continent. In 2001, he joined the financial services sector as Director at Standard Bank SA, and later appointed to the Deputy Managing Director position at Standard Bank Lesotho.
He earned his international standing as go-to consultant on Digital Transformation, through his experience and expertise consulting and capacity building for several multinational corporations and governments in disruptive technologies integration, mobile and media. Dr Mosala has a solid understanding of the ICT sector and its business drivers, particularly in the African market.
With a strong digital background in software engineering, backed by a commercial mindset, Dr Mosala is a Strategist focused on creating sustainable business capabilities that take businesses to the next level; he has, and can deliver what is promised. He is focused on Digital Transformation, AI, Platforms, Machine Learning and IoT solutions; and has excelled in finding and building strategic partnerships that benefit his client partners and their ecosystems.
He started WrenJos Capital, a venture capital company focusing on start-ups in manufacturing and technology. WrenJos Capital has established partnerships with research institutes such as Mintek, South Africa’s national research and development (R&D) organisation – with an aim to commercialise their research output. He has since also started WrenJos Consulting, which offers specialised advisory services in Strategy with a particular interest in work around Blue Ocean Strategies. The Agency also focuses on Business Simulations, Learning solutions, Financial Services, Business Process Mapping / Improvement and Research.
Dr Mosala lectures on several post-graduate programmes locally and abroad, which has earned him several awards and acknowledgement for teaching excellence. He is current faculty at the Wits Business School (WBS), the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business School (GIBS); Henley Business School, the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business (GSB), CEIBS Africa amongst many other acclaimed learning institutions. As a renowned subject matter expert, Dr Mosala regularly presents at conferences and symposia. Africa ScalingUp is a non-profit institution which he founded to provide business mentorship support to emerging entities – to transition these from start-up to growth by setting them on a trajectory to commercialisation success. Using the opportunity to empower youth, and co-create policies around entrepreneurship, technology adoption and the future of work. Dr Mosala is an avid reader and can usually be found behind a riveting read in his spare time.
