Dr. Alexander Kwadwo Asmah is an experienced banker with specialty in retail and business banking and an expertise in the development and funding for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which he has leveraged to raise the bar in Ghana’s Rural and Community Banking industry. With over 22 years in banking and finance practice, Dr. Asmah is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Amenfiman Rural Bank PLC and a Director at the African Corporate Training Services. Before joining Amenfiman as the Chief Executive, he worked with Barclays Bank Ghana (now ABSA Bank) in various capacities including Customer Team Lead and Operations Manager; where he was exposed to global best practices in financial services delivery. He had earlier served in various capacities at Amenfiman Bank Plc, including Head of Banking Operations, Finance and Administration and Human Resource.
Dr. Asmah holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) with emphasis in Global Business and Leadership, an International Executive Master of Business Administration in Banking and Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com Hons). He has further honed his expertise through executive programs at Harvard Business School, IESE Business School both in the USA, and the Galilee International Management Institute in Israel where he studied business strategy, innovation management, Global markets and banking strategies.
Dr. Asmah has carved a niche for himself in the banking industry and has acquired considerable experience in banking operations, project management, finance, credit management, risk management, as well as managing and funding the Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSME) sector. Dr. Asmah’s leadership has driven a remarkable growth at Amenfiman Rural Bank Plc, overseeing an unprecedented growth in assets and profitability, positioning the bank as the leading institution in its sector. His commitment to financial inclusion and strategic innovation has earned him numerous accolades, including Financial Inclusion Champion, Outstanding CEO of the Year, Ghana’s Most Respected CEO (2021 & 2023) and Africa’s Most Respected CEO (2022) as well as CEO several top awards in the area of financial inclusion and retail banking.
